Bluefin Championship Saturday 05/10/19 DERGVIEW 3 - 1 KNOCKBREDA Both teams had a chance to take the lead early on with keepers called on to make good saves. The home team had more possession but Breda almost went ahead on 37 minutes when a low drive from Alex Pomeroy brought a fine save. 10 minutes into the 2nd half saw the home team take the lead when a corner was met by a great header from 12 yards into the roof of the net.Breda responded with a Pomeroy header on 64 minutes crashing against the bar The home team extended their lead on 65 minutes with Breda again hitting the crossbar with a direct freekick from Patrick Cafolla from 25 yards on 81 minutes before the home team sealed the points on 84 minutes with a 3rd goal. Bluefin Championship Saturday 12/10/19 Knockbreda 1 - PSNI 1 Breda started well missing a chance in the first minute and several more throughout the first half. They did go behind on 19 minutes when poor marking and defending allowed a free header from 6 yards following a corner. Breda continued to press in the second half eventually drawing level on 84 minutes when Conall Delaney bundled the ball into the net from close range. Bluefin Championship Saturday 19/10/19 KNOCKBREDA 1 - 3 QUEENS UNI Breda had early pressure but again shot themselves in the foot conceding two early goals on 5 minutes and 18 minutes. Breda also missed chances in the first half to reduce the arrears and 2 minutes into the second half did pull a goal back when David Fearon scored direct from a free kick just outside the box. Breda pressed hard for an equaliser , missing further good chances before Queens sealed all 3 points with a breakaway third goal in added time. Bluefin Championship Saturday 26/10/19 Dundela 5 - 0 Knockbreda After very early even exchanges , this game was over within the first 20 minutes with 3 avoidable goals conceded by Breda. A fourth goal before half time and another in the second half sealed all 3 points for the home team. Next up for Breda an away League game v Portadown on Saturday 02/11/19 kick off 3pm.
Bluefin Championship Saturday 02/11/19 PORTADOWN 3 - 0 KNOCKBREDA For the first time this season Breda started a game without manager Lee Forsythe at the helm. Despite recent results Breda's players did not shirk responsibility , getting on the ball and consistently playing a passing game matching the hosts early on and creating a couple chances. Breda did however fall behind on 20 minutes when a great cross was headed in from 6 yards with an avoidable second goal following 5 minutes later. Breda however stuck to their passing game and were well in the game with centre back Karl Hamill just failing to connect properly with a ball which dropped to him in the home 6 yard box. Breda conceded a third goal on 78 minutes but , credit to all involved , a very encouraging performance. Next up for Breda a home League game v Ballyclare Comrades on Saturday 09/11/19 at Breda Park. Saturday 16/11/19 Loughgall 0 -3 knockbreda A fantastic win for Breda and a much needed 3 points. A great all round team & management performance with goals by David Fearon on 28 and 90 minutes either side of a goal by Gary Lavery on 83 mins.Breda will now look to build on this in the coming weeks. Bluefin Championship Saturday 30/11/19 ARDS 2 - 3 KNOCKBREDA Breda picked up a big 3 points after a hard fought victory against a strong home side who went ahead on 6 minutes when the ball broke losein the box and was fired in from 6 yards. Breda continued to play their football and drew level when David Fearon broke through , went past the home keeper and shot into the empty net. On 33 minutes a great passing move by Breda saw them open up the home defence with Conall Delaney firing into the net from 12 yards. 5 minutes into the 2nd half saw the home team equalise with a header when a long cross into the box was not dealt with. After that Breda had to withstand considerable home pressure although they were always dangerous on the break. On 89 minutes sub Alex Pomeroy broke clear into the box and was brought down by the home keeper. Fearon dispatched the resultant penalty with confidence. Next up for Breda a home League game v Ballinamallard on Saturday 7/12/19 , at Breda Park , kick off 2pm.
Bluefin Championship Saturday 07/12/19 KNOCKBREDA 1 - BALLINAMALLARD 4 Breda started well having regular possession of the ball in the visitor's half. Following a good passing move on 11 minutes , centre forward David Fearon found space on the edge of the box. His low shot was deflected to give Breda an early lead. Breda continued to play well and almost scored a second goal on 26 minutes when Noel Halfpenny broke into the box but was unable to keep his volleyed shot down. The visitors also had spells of possession using both attacking flanks well. On 37 minutes a cross from wide evaded Breda defenders with the ball volleyed into their net from close range. 2 minutes before the break the visitors scored a decisive second goal with Breda failing to clear in their 6 yard box with the ball scrambled in to give the visitors a halftime lead. Breda pushed for an equaliser in the second half but the visitors were content to rely on dangerous pacey counter attacks down both flanks scoring further goals on 65 minutes and 71 minutes. Bluefin Championship Saturday 14/12/19 H&W Welders 2 - 3 Knockbreda After a quiet opening Breda started to create chances with the passing game and the movement and pace of centre forward Alex Pomeroy, causing problems for the home defence. On 7 minutes Pomeroy was played in but his shot , when 1 on 1 was saved by the keeper's feet. On 15 minutes Pomeroy was again played in and when touching the ball over the keeper , was brought down by him for a penalty. Brendan Bennett's spot kick was however saved by the keeper. 4 minutes later Pomeroy again broke away but was tackled in the box. Bennett got the ball on the edge of the box beating 2 defenders before firing low into the opposite corner of the net to give Breda the lead. Breda conceded an equaliser on 35 minutes when allowing a home forward to run across their 18 yard line before firing low into the net. Breda continued to have the better of the game in the 2nd half and regained the lead on 55 minutes when a corner was met by the head of Breda's captain and centre back, Gary Spence, with Bennett , at the 2nd attempt firing high into the net from close range. 10 minutes later saw a good passing move in midfieldease Bennett into the box. His cross was headed away but the ball fell to Pomeroy who made no mistake from 6 yards. Breda endured a nervy finish when the home team reduced the arrears on 77 minutes but held out to take a big 3 points. Bluefin Championship Saturday 21/12/19 KNOCKBREDA 1 - 1 DERGVIEW In dull , foggy conditions Breda started well creating chances on 8 and 12 minutes both of which were blocked by the keeper. The visitors made it increasingly difficult for Breda to get their passing game going and following a press on 36 minutes won the ball some 25 yards from goal leading to a well hit curling shot from 25 yards finding the net.Dergview continued to frustrate Breda in the second half but the home team's persistence paid off in the 83 minute when a crossed free kick was brilliantly headed over the keeper and into the net from 12 yards by Brendan Bennett to give both teams a share of the points. Bluefin Championship Thursday 26/12/19 KNOCKBREDA 0 - 8 ARDS A wet and miserable day at Breda park got steadily worse. 2 goals down at the break although Breda did miss 2 or 3 good chances in the half.However the 2nd half saw a total Breda collapse with the visitors adding a further 6 goals without reply. Not much more to be said about that performance other than a time for all the players to reflect on it moving into the New Year. The first opportunity to put matters right will be on Saturday 04/01/20 with a home Irish Cup tie v Dergview. PLEASE NOTE THIS GAME KICKS OFF AT 1.30PM.
